Beginning-Level Grammar Lessons

  • Lesson on how to teach nouns - This page contains an easy-to-follow lesson on nouns. In particular, the lesson has two parts. The first is a brief lesson on teaching students what a noun is along with a practice exercise. The second is a lesson on what nouns do. This is also followed by a suggestion for two practice exercises.

There will be more content coming shortly, but for now check out a good explanation for...

  • Teaching the Verb Tense System - This section explains the verb tense/aspect system using an easy-to-understand method that typically has my students correctly using all 12 tenses in a written discourse with only about 2 weeks of lessons and practices.

  • Teaching gerunds and infinitives - Gerunds and infinitives are used everywhere in English and this section explains how to they are used as subjects, subject complements, and objects [direct and preposition]. This section also contains a set of day-by-day lesson plans complete with ideas for practices and downloadable handouts.
