Frequently Asked Questions: Assessment
Our primary accrediting agency [CEA] requires that all grades must be based on the work students produce. Therefore, we cannot include items like participation, attendance, or completion of homework in calculating a student's grade. Homework/coursework should be graded for correctness. Class attendance and participation are just part of the minimum requirements of enrollment in a course even though they are not directly graded. If a student is not regularly attending a class, they should not pass the class because they are missing information and assignments they need to pass assessments.

The assessment could be homework or classwork assignments (both large & small), quizzes/tests, projects,etc...
